Happy Summer! I photographed this Sunset on a recent visit to Long Beach Island in New Jersey. The anticipation of the sunset was high among my friends and family and we took so many great images in front of the sunset but the very best was of the actual sunset. Why? Because when you photograph someone in front of the sunset the person's face is usually in a shadow and difficult for an inexperienced person to regain the details from the shadows without a RAW image and special editing techniques. To me the Golden Hour is when the Sun is just about to set and for about 15 minutes after it has set so the perfect light lasts about 1/2 hour. The best light on your subject is when that subject is facing the sunset and you're standing between them and the sunset. Awesome Golden Hour Portrait! Be sure to check the background too because the sky does magical things when the sun is setting. Looking forward to exciting product introductions in the studio this coming fall. Look for them and for more blog posts from me. Check out my Facebook and Instagram pages too. Michelle Mustari - Photography & Design. Happy Summer again - see you soon.
